The Mahajana Pre-University College was inaugurated in the year 1971-72, when the State of Karnataka opted for the two year pattern, for the pre-university course, to mark the Silver Jubilee Celebrations of the Educational Society.  The college got its present name S.B.R.R Mahajana PU College, with the munificent contribution from the donor Smt. Bhagyalakshmamma, wife of Sri Rattehalli Rammappa, towards the growth of the Institution.
